On a snowy night in the winter of 2014, directors Steve W. Thompson and Nadir Malik Nelson had a meeting with Josh Williams aka Technodrome1, about their current documentary short that was in production. Originally conceived as a pilot to pitch to PBS about Brooklyn's current underground art scene, the project had been on the shelf for several months and fell into indefinite hiatus. Frustrated with various forces beyond their control, they decided to move on and self-fund a short film that would be solely their idea. Inspired by the narrative short film making past of Steve W. Thompson, the new idea would be a blend of documentary, animation, and narrative film to tell the story of up-and-coming street artist Technodrome1. The crew quickly enlisted screen writer Cameron Mason to help bring this wild film to life. The end product is ALMOST ONE, a short inspired by such films such as "Exit Through the Gift", "Wild Style", and "Downtown 81", pushing the boundaries between documentary and reality, and creating a short film that is uniquely its own vision.
